Quantitative BHCG (blood pregnancy test)

A blood test that determines the presence or absence of a pregnancy.

 

The prescription can be provided by Prenato if the criteria of the collective prescription (CP) are met, that is :

  • Presence of a menstrual delay of 4 days with or without pregnancy symptoms (regular cycle of 21 to 35 days)
  • Presence of pregnancy symptoms with or without menstrual delay (irregular cycle of less than 21 days or more than 35 days)
  • Positive urine test requiring serum confirmation

Prenato cannot provide a prescription when the collective prescription (CP) cannot be applied, in these situations:

  • Age under 14 years or menopausal woman
  • Pregnancy resulting from embryo transfer
  • Pregnancy over 7 weeks of amenorrhea
  • Pregnancy with moderate or heavy active bleeding or presence of pain that may suggest ectopic pregnancy
  • HCG result or ultrasound obtained previously for the current pregnancy
  • Diagnosis of miscarriage or pregnancy termination within the last 8 weeks

 

An external healthcare professional’s prescription may be required if your situation does not meet the indications/contraindications of our CP.

FIRST TRIMESTER PREGNANCY SCREENING

Allows for a comprehensive assessment of your health at the beginning of pregnancy.

  • Includes a blood test and a urine test
  • May require fasting, to be confirmed on your prescription
  • To be done between 10 and 14 weeks of pregnancy
  • Will be prescribed by your pregnancy care provider

 

 

SECOND TRIMESTER PREGNANCY SCREENING

Allows screening for gestational diabetes and monitoring of your health.

  • Includes a blood test and a urine test
  • Includes the 50g oral glucose challenge test
  • May require fasting, to be confirmed on your prescription
  • To be done between 24 and 28 weeks of pregnancy
  • Will be prescribed by your pregnancy care provider

 

 

75G ORAL GLUCOSE TOLERANCE TEST

Allows diagnosis of gestational diabetes.

  • Duration approximately 2 hours
  • Includes 3 blood draws
  • Fasting for 8 hours (or 12 hours depending on prescription)
  • Will be prescribed by your pregnancy care provider

 

 

WHOOPING COUGH VACCINE

Allows antibodies to be directly transferred to the baby via the placenta, protecting the baby from birth until their own vaccination at 2 months of age.

  • Ideally administered between 26 and 32 weeks of pregnancy
  • No medical prescription required, provided by Prenato

 

POSTNATAL BLOOD WORK

Monitoring of your blood sugar or TSH levels may be recommended after delivery.

  • Includes any blood test or urine screening
  • Up to 3 months postpartum
  • Will be prescribed by your healthcare provider as needed
